Showtime College Prep jumped out to an early lead on Baseball Express (IL) and captured an 8-0 victory on Sunday at Papago Park in Mesa, AZ.
With seven runs in the first three innings, Showtime College Prep left no doubt about the eventual outcome. An RBI triple by Sam Christopher, an RBI triple by Liam Fitzpatrick, and a groundout by Drake Carter in the second inning supplied the early offense.
Showtime College Prep's Tyler Russell kept Baseball Express off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up four.
Showtime College Prep was sparked by Christopher and Trevor Wharton, who teamed up five hits and four RBI's. They tacked on another four runs in the third. A single by Hunter Bruno ignited the offense, plating Cory Bryan. That was followed up by Christopher's triple bringing home Gunner Talkington and Bruno. Christopher had three extra-base hits.
This win clinched the #1 Seed with a first-round bye in the Championship Bracket. Semi-final game Monday, January 18 at 11am Paradise Valley High School.
